About Us
A health concern few choose to deal with. A market too large to ignore.
CRH Medical Corporation was established in 1995 as a medical services company specializing in the treatment of hemorrhoids utilizing the Company owned CRH-O’Regan Disposable Hemorrhoid Banding Technology. This single-use, 100% disposable technology is minimally invasive and has been found to be 99.1% effective and 99.8% pain free in the treatment of hemorrhoids grade I – IV and allows most patients to return work the same day following treatment.
While the CRH-O’Regan Disposable Hemorrhoid Technology is primarily available through our owned and/or operated Centers for Colorectal Health, we have expanded the accessibility to patients nationally by distributing our technology, treatment protocols and operational and marketing expertise as a complete, “turn-key” package directly to partner physicians who have been trained to perform the procedure.
The technology was invented by Dr. Patrick J. O’Regan who is currently Head of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Department of Surgery, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Saudi Arabia. Previously he was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. A respected laparoscopic surgeon, Dr. O’Regan invented the patented disposable technology to improve the hemorrhoid banding procedure for patients and physicians. It was cleared by the FDA for the treatment of hemorrhoids in 1997 and has swiftly become the “gold standard” for its safety, comfort and effectiveness.
Hemorrhoids, which are essentially swollen veins in the lower rectum or anus, produce symptoms similar to those of colorectal cancer and other digestive system diseases, namely blood in the stool. This represents a major opportunity for combining effective hemorrhoid treatment with colorectal cancer testing expertise. Colon cancer is the third most common cancer killer in the United States, and yet it is highly preventable and treatable if caught early. As such, the American Cancer Society recommends an annual fecal occult blood test (FOBT) for anyone over the age of 50 with no known risk factors. We perform the screening after the symptoms of hemorrhoids or anal fissures have been resolved.
